National Environment Program Compliance – Morgan Sindall Construction and Infrastructure
As a trusted partner of Morgan Sindall Construction and Infrastructure Limited BBC Formwork Ltd were chosen to assist in the upgrade of 5 water treatment works to comply with new regulatory standard phosphorus content levels imposed by the Environment Agency under the National Environment program (NEP). Working on all sites simultaneously across North Yorkshire providing a full labour, plant and material service, works included settlement tanks, chemical dosing bunds, pump stations and kiosk equipment plinths.
Killingbeck Meadows FAS Outfall Structure, Leeds - Jacksons Civil Engineering Ltd
Having completed numerous similar projects for Jackson Civil Engineering Limited, our involvement installing the outfall structure at Killingbeck Meadows was completed with zero defects and well within the time allocated. Professional, longstanding and trusted relationships again proved the safe and efficient delivery of reinforced concrete works by BBC Formwork Ltd. Spring 2020 will see the ongoing installation of capping beams to the sheet piled earth flood banks, part of the ongoing Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme Phase 1 & 2.
Humber Link Road, Grimsby – Colas Siac Ltd
BBC Formwork Ltd are currently installing culverts in preparation for the new link road at Stallingborough which will connect prime development land west of Grimsby. The sites adjacent to the River Humber are particularly susceptible to flooding and high winds requiring an extra level of commitment and coordination from the site team. The project demonstrates our ongoing support to Colas Siac Ltd as they continue their move into the UK’s major construction projects market.
Bransholme Surface Water Pumping Station, Hull – Black and Veatch
BBC Formwork Ltd were appointed by Black and Veatch in 2016 to provide full reinforced concrete services on the Bransholme Surface Water Pumping Station (BSWPS). Among the largest of pump stations in Europe BSWPS was built to protect 15,000 houses previously affected by flooding in the Bransholme catchment. Eight large Archimedean screw pumps were installed capable of transferring 23.6m³/s of water to a newly enlarge attenuation lagoon. BBC Formwork Ltd were involved throughout the civils sequence of works providing labour, plant and materials including scaffold access, cranes and concrete pumps.
Langsett Water Treatment Works New Power Upgrade – Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure Ltd
BBC Formwork Ltd were appointed by Morgan Sindall to undertake civil works as part of Langsett Water Treatment Works (WTW) power supply upgrade, including a new transformer, LVDB, MCC and permanent backup generator. Civil works included full excavation, ground support, ducting, pipework, drainage, sub base preparation and installing of all reinforced concrete structures, delivery area and paths. The works were particularly restricted due to other construction activities and the delivery and collection movements associated with a live water treatment works. Such difficulties were overcome through the deployment of a skilled site team, with highly experienced supervision and forward planning.
Old Whittington Waste Water Treatment Works, Chesterfield – Black & Veatch
As part of a £27m investment to improve Old Whittington Waste Water Treatment Works, BBC Formwork Ltd were appointed by Black & Veatch to construct an underground system of baffle walls, channels and filters to control and filter water on site. The various structures put the team’s skills to the test in forming unconventional angles, radiuses, hanging walls & soffits. Overall the works contributed to the long-term development of the facility by increasing capacity and improving water quality directly downstream of the site.
MEICA Upgrade Project, Colburn – North Midland Construction (NMCN)
Following on from our works at Wombwell WwTW working with NMCN, we successfully completed our works to reconfigure Colburn WwTW from an anaerobic digestion plant to a dewatering sludge export facility. BBC Formwork Ltd provided reinforced concrete services to form a new dual pumping station, mcc, centrifuge, various slabs and hardstanding service areas. The ongoing success of the work led us to remain on site to complete further additional concrete structures.
Carr Lane CSO Chamber, Goole – F & B Trenchless Solutions (IRE) Ltd
F&B Trenchless Solutions Ltd contacted BBC Formwork Ltd regarding the construction of an 8m deep CSO chamber connecting existing storm drains. The chamber was located in an area with limited access and laydown areas, so coordination and sequencing were vital to maintaining program. All personnel involved were experienced confined space operatives capable of dealing with the inherent risks . The works included construction of a 1.2m deep base plug, 8m high walls, columns, weir walls, horizontal props and overhead soffit with numerous penetrations and removable panels.
Catterick Flood Storage Reservoir – Jacksons Civil Engineering Ltd
Working with our longstanding Client Jackson Civil Engineering Ltd, BBC Formwork were appointed to construct a spillway and control structure incorporating two hydro brakes to control the flow of water discharging into Brough Beck during heavy rain. The installation was of great importance to protect Catterick Village and the Motorway A1(M), which suffered major flooding and highway closure in previous years.
McCain Factory Automation Renewals, Scarborough – McCains Ltd
Our work at McCain’s was of great significance to BBC Formwork Ltd, not only were we able to demonstrate our capacity to work directly with a large internationally renowned business, but also a business providing many opportunities for local people across the East Coast region. During our 6 month program of works we constructed numerous concrete structures, 110m capping beam, pad foundations and installation of internal upper level Skydeck, electrical control room plus many more plinths, slabs and internal adaptations to existing structures and buildings.
